Learn How To Volunteer For The Duncan SPCA And Make A Difference
Children under 16 can volunteer only if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Under 19, you must have a waiver signed by your parents. This is a legal requirement because of accidental injury. We can't babysit or be responsible for children under sixteen. Also, all volunteers must be members of the SPCA in order to be covered by our insurance. However....
We always need help with:
* Fostering sick or orphaned babies
* Socializing dogs
* Combing kitties
* Cleaning cages
* Finding sponsors for our pet page in the Pictorial. $33 for the animal and your ad.
* Visiting schools to explain about being compassionate toward animals, responsible pet ownership.
* Fundraisng. We are always desperate for people to organize events or help our other volunteers with the Annual garage Sale and Annual Silent Auction.
There are wonderful benefits to volunteering. Besides filling a real need, you (and your work habits) will become recognized by those in charge of the shelter. You receive vital work experience and recommendations from the staff. Volunteers are usually the first people hired whenever there is a vacancy because they are known to the staff. Some volunteer work even counts as credit in school courses. Many organizations depend on volunteers because they are non-profit and have no source of income, other than donations. Volunteers make this world a better place! |
